Hopes or Fears, Let's Wait and See
Keane mentioned that their new album would return to the previous style such as the album Hopes and Fears. Still, there is a mixture for me as I feel it as a combination of excitement and anxiety. Let's talk about the excitement first. As they have changed their musical style in a gigantic way since 2008, their uniqueness has lost greatly. But it turns out that I sort of like thier breakthrough even though the affection from their music had been decreased in their album Perfect Symmetry (2008) and the EP Night Train (2010). What I expect from Keane might be inclined to the original style attached to the other various tune and musical elements. In the interview, Tom Chaplin, the vocalist of Keane, explained that they would not try "sprawling concept album" this time but carry on their belief from the origin of the music they are truly holding on, perhaps it's time for them to make a pause in musical experiments. I couldn't agree with them more. Some might be the first Keane fans who fall in love with them from the first album. Such the nostalgic crowd. And yet, what if Keane go back and are constrained in the frame this time? The conservative musical elements may block thier way so that they get stuck in a groove. As a fan, I don't think they like to be defined as some sort of "that kind" or "that type" of music, or band's music should have gone like this way. If this happens, Keane will fall on a restraint by audiences and even by themselves! But it appears that Keane do not pretty worry about it at all, they feel excited and great for 16 songs in their new album. Perhaps I worry too much. To my expectation, the waiting of new album from Keane seems to greet me with a chaos in my mind for Fears as well as with a silence which soothes me for Hopes by the wait-and-see.
